Double-Hung Windows for Southern Louisiana
Classic proportions. Flexible ventilation. Double-hung replacement windows let you open the upper or lower sash, with tilt-in cleaning available on many models. Singleton helps homeowners across Southern Louisiana compare styles, glass and finishes, then handles careful measurement and installation.

Two moving sashes. One familiar look.
A double-hung window has an upper and lower sash that move vertically. Open the bottom for a breeze, lower the top, or adjust both. Because the sashes stay within the frame, an open window does not swing into a porch, walkway or planting bed.
Where double-hung windows work well
This style suits many taller openings and traditional home designs. Matching grille patterns and frame colors can help retain the character of a Louisiana home while updating worn or difficult-to-operate windows. We check the actual opening before recommending a size or configuration.
Choose the details that matter
Compare frame colors, grille layouts, screens, locks and glass packages. ProVia is our primary window line; we help match the available series and options to your project. Many double-hung models have tilt-in sashes for easier cleaning from indoors. Features depend on the selected product.
For rooms with strong afternoon sun, we discuss glass performance, including solar heat gain and insulating value. An operating style alone does not establish energy efficiency or impact resistance. If storm protection is a priority, review our hurricane and impact window options.
Measured for your home. Installed with care.
We review your existing frames, surrounding trim and any signs of moisture damage before explaining the replacement scope. During installation, fit, attachment, sealing and operation all matter. At the walkthrough, we show you how the sashes, locks and any tilt-in features work.
Double-hung window questions
How is double-hung different from single-hung?
Both sashes move in a double-hung window. In a typical single-hung window, the lower sash moves and the upper sash stays fixed. Double-hung gives you more ways to ventilate and, on suitable models, access the glass for cleaning.
Should I choose double-hung or sliding windows?
Start with the opening and how you will reach the window. Double-hung windows move vertically; sliding or glider windows move horizontally and often suit wider openings. We can compare both during your estimate.
How much does replacement cost?
Size, product series, glass, finish and work at the opening affect the price. We measure and review your choices before providing a project-specific quote. You can discuss one window, a phased replacement or a full-home project.
